Project «Strengthening Student Participation in SEE» is a regional student initiative that gathers university student organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina (both entities), Macedonia, Montenegro, Albania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Moldova and Slovenia. Project includes knowledge increase and skills improvement for student leaders through training modules and building informal student network in SEE with the main aim to strength student initiative and increase student participation in decision making processes and university governance, according to Bologna process.
Project also includes student GOTV campaign in Serbia for encouraging students to participate elections for student parliaments in Serbia, to introduce student parliament and it’s relevance to students, and to encourage them to stand for and vote for their representatives.
Direct project aim is to strengthen student initiative and student participation in decision making process at universities, through building cooperation among student organizations and student leaders in South East Europe region.
Project “Strengthening Student Participation in SEE” is organized in a way to give knowledge and skills to present student leaders through trainings, and at the same time, to strengthen their mutual cooperation and experience exchange. On that base, student involved in the project and student organizations will directly benefit and develop infrastructure of the organization and knowledge circles. Indirectly, using gained knowledge and improving skills, student leaders involved in training modules should strength student position at the universities. Also they will start fighting for better representation in university governance, and in decision making bodies (for example university council). At the same time, they should spread the idea of strong partnership among students and academics in reforming higher education and building sustainable universities.
On the other hand, partner organizations will have opportunity to develop cooperation, exchange experience and introduce best practice promoting student participation at their universities. Partner organizations are gathered from different countries with different law regulations and practical experiences, but with very similar background, and more than similar problems concerning student organizing participation and many other fields of interest. By developing skills and establishing cooperation, organizations and student leaders build strong support for strategic improvement of student participation and student movement in SEE.
